Manchester City's forward Mac Allister has extended his contract with Brighton & Hove Albion until the summer of 2027.

The Argentina international joined the Seagulls from River Plate in January 2021 and has since made a significant impact on the club's attack.

Allister scored four goals in 24 appearances for Brighton last season as they finished eighth in the Premier League.

He was also part of Argentina's squad that reached the semi-finals of the Copa America this year.

In a statement released by Brighton, manager Chris Hughton said: "We're delighted to extend Mac's contract at the Amex.

"He's been a fantastic addition to our team and he's had an incredible start to life here.

"We've seen him develop into one of the most dangerous players in the league and we look forward to seeing what he can achieve over the next few years."

Hughton added: "We're proud of everything Mac has achieved so far and we're excited about the potential he still has ahead of him."

Allister is now set to play a key role in Brighton's bid to secure a top-six finish in the Premier League this season.

He will be hoping to continue his impressive form under new manager Roberto De Zerbi, who took over from Graham Potter earlier this month.

De Zerbi has already appointed former Manchester United defender Phil Jones as his first signing and Allister could be a target for the newly-promoted club.

Regardless of whether or not he joins Brighton, Allister's extension is a positive sign for the future of English football.

The 25-year-old has already established himself as one of the best young forwards in Europe and it's clear why he's attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in the world.
