The Manchester United team has announced the names of their upcoming matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League fixture against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.
In a statement released by the club, it was revealed that 22-year-old forward Jesse Lingard will be making his debut for the Red Devils as a starter in this weekend’s clash.
Lingard is known for his impressive performances in both club and country, having made over 150 appearances for England and scoring nine goals.
He is also a key member of the squad, with the likes of Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic all featuring alongside him on the right-wing.
Despite his youth, Lingard has already impressed scouts across Europe and has been tipped to become one of the future stars of the Premier League.
The move comes just weeks after he signed a new contract extension with the club, which sees him becoming the first player in the club's history to sign a new deal.
The move comes as a surprise to many, given the club’s recent struggles in the Premier League, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident that Lingard can bring much-needed energy and creativity to the team.
Solskjaer praised Lingard’s work ethic and attitude during pre-match interviews, stating: "Jesse is someone who always puts himself out there and does what needs to be done, and I think he’s going to do that again."
The midfielder will make his first appearance for Manchester United in the matchday squad on Sunday, and will look to contribute to the team's efforts in the coming weeks.
The club have also announced that they will be playing three different halves of the pitch, with the home side facing West Bromwich Albion and the visitors facing Aston Villa.
This will give Lingard more opportunities to showcase his skills and help the team to achieve its full potential.
