Sevilla FC has announced the extension of the contract of their star player, Luka Modrić, until the end of the current season in 2026.
Modrić, who joined Sevilla from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2014, is one of the club's most valuable players and has become a key figure in the team's success during his time at the club.
The extension comes after a successful campaign that saw Modrić score 25 goals and provide assists to his teammates, helping Sevilla reach the Europa League final and reach the Champions League semi-finals.
Modrić has been a crucial part of the team's development since he arrived at the club, and the club has made it clear that they will continue to support him throughout his career.
"We are thrilled with the progress we have seen from Luka over the past few seasons," said Sevilla CEO Juan Antonio Pizzi. "His commitment to the club and his leadership on and off the pitch have been outstanding, and we are confident that he will continue to be a valuable asset for us for many years to come."
The club also confirmed that they would offer Modrić a new deal worth €18 million per year, which is more than double the previous contract.
The move is another example of how Sevilla FC is investing in its youth academy, with the club looking to develop young talent in order to compete at the highest level of football.
Overall, this extension of Modrić's contract is a positive step forward for the club as they look towards the future and build on their strong foundation of talent.
