The La Liga transfer window is now open and teams across the league are busy making moves ahead of the winter break.

One of the most notable transfers in recent weeks has been that of Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti to Manchester United. The Frenchman was released by Barça after his poor form last season, but he has impressed in his first few games for United so far this campaign.

Another big signing in January was that of Inter Milan midfielder Arturo Vidal, who joined from Juventus on loan until the end of the season. The Chilean has made a strong impact since joining the Nerazzurri, scoring two goals in four games.

Other key signings include Valencia's Joao Pedro, who moved to Chelsea on loan, and Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez, who joined from Roma on a permanent deal.

As well as these big names, there have also been several smaller deals completed, including the loan move of Real Sociedad forward Iñaki Peiró to Espanyol and the return of former Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to the club on a permanent basis.

Overall, it looks like January will be another busy month for La Liga clubs as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of the second half of the season. With many of the top teams still in contention for titles, every inch of tactical advantage could make all the difference in the run-in.
