Title: Edmilson Signs Contract Extension with CSL, Stayed for Two More Seasons
The Brazilian footballer, Edmilson, has signed a new contract with CS Lazio, staying with the club until the end of the season in 2019.
The agreement, which is worth €6 million per year, includes an option to extend the deal beyond the current term by one year, which would bring the total amount to €8 million.
Edmilson, who had been on loan at AC Milan and Napoli, has enjoyed success in Serie A this season, scoring four goals and assisting six others, helping his side to secure a promotion to the top flight.
However, he was disappointed that he could not stay longer with CS Lazio as he wanted to explore other opportunities.
"I am very happy about the extension," said Edmilson. "I have had a great season with CS Lazio, but I want to try something else."
He added that he would like to continue playing for the club and improve his game, even if it meant leaving his previous clubs.
"CS Lazio is a good club, and they have given me a lot of support during my time here," he said. "I am looking forward to continuing my career there and hopefully making some more appearances for them."
Edmilson's signing comes after the Italian footballer, Gianluigi Buffon, also extended his contract with CS Lazio until the end of the season, ending speculation over whether the club would keep him or not.
Buffon, who has been with CS Lazio since 2007, was one of the most successful players in Italian football history, winning five domestic titles and three Champions League titles.
"The future looks bright for CS Lazio," said manager Giuseppe Marotta. "We are confident that we will be able to strengthen our squad and compete for titles in the future."
